The sensitive period refurbishment/restoration is excellent. The Host’s were great ambassadors of the B&B industry in having a service attitude and a light touch but obvious real interest in the us as the guests. There is a great atmosphere that’s is very close to restaurants and places of interest - including the local golf course and the ‘nut’. If you love history, delicious breakfasts, elegant and comfortable accommodation and fabulous company in the charming and thoughtful hosts Geraldine and Dave, then Poets Cottage is the perfect place to stay. I stayed in the attic bedrooms with my three children and it was spacious, cosy and quiet. It’s a five star, unforgettable treat of a place! I also recommend the Stanley hotel and the seafood restaurant next door for excellent dining. Very friendly people at the pharmacy who told us where to see a whale! Highfield house was great too. I will definitely be returning to poets cottage. AnnetteMay 7, 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our favourite place on our trip around Tasmania. And the complimentary breakfast, cooked right in front of you was such a special, and thoughtful addition to our stay. We would highly recommend. Dave and Geraldine’s Poet’s cottage provided the perfect stay for our family celebrations. From the striking street presence and beautiful gardens, to the considered detail of the decor and furnishings. Every room was unique and this is boutique (but also well-priced) accomodation at its prime! Dave and Geraldine offered such warm and generous hospitality including an extensive breakfast spread with locally soured products and home grown fruit which further enhanced our enjoyment of our stay. A few doors down from the esteemed Ship Inn and walking distance to penguin sightings at night and the Hursey’s seafood restaurant, it was perfectly located. I stayed in Mountain view room and soaked up the ambience of the beautiful decor and the bluestone wall above the fire place. We had an absolutely wonderful stay at The Poet’s Cottage in Stanley, and we can’t thank Geraldine and Dave enough for their warm hospitality. The cottage is every bit as dreamy and charming as it looks. I absolutely loved the name ‘Poet’s Cottage.’ It truly feels like a place where, if you stay long enough, you might just be inspired to write a few poems yourself! Every corner of the place is so thoughtfully put together, making it a really great place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of slow living. But beyond the beautiful setting, what truly made our stay unforgettable was the company of Geraldine and Dave. They’re incredibly kind and welcoming, with so many fascinating stories to share. It’s clear that they are wonderful souls, and their presence made our stay feel even more special.Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust.
